Winry and Scieszka finally arrive in Resembool. They are approached by a suspicious man who mistakes Winry for a woman named Sara. Suddenly, Winry realizes that her mom's name was Sara...
The mysterious man comes to Pinako's house saying that he cannot find his own. Winry is startled to find that the man is in fact Ed and Al's father.
Bickering in the middle of the desert, Ed and Al come in bump one another. Al, being the Philosopher's Stone, reacts to Ed. As a precaution, Ed tells Al that they must keep their distance to avoid another transmutation reaction. Resuming their journey, the brothers head to Resembool.
Mustang is assessing the military's losses in Lior when the Fuhrer suddenly arrives. The Fuhrer orders Mustang to launch a search party for the Elric brothers.
Back in Resembool, Ed and Al's father listens to Winry regarding the death of her parents. Waking up from a nap, Scieszka responds to a knock on the door thinking it was Winry only to find Ross and Brosh.
They tell Winry and Scieszka that Ed and Al are on the run from the military. Knowing that the brothers would return to their home, Ross and Brosh warn the two about the search party.
With a tip from Ed and Al's father, Winry rushes off to meet Ed and Al. Meanwhile, the brothers encounter Mustang's unit on the back roads leading back to Resembool. Mustang also runs across Winry and Scieszka who have come out to meet Ed and Al.
Finally, Mustang and his subordinates catch up to Ed and Al. They are, however, unwilling to submit and continue to resist. Cornered, Ed and Al must face Mustang.
Mustang reveals his true intention for coming after the Elric brothers. He is angry that they fled before seeking his protection. It is then that they learn of Mustang's true goal. He strives to reach a position where he will not have to obey orders that are unreasonable.
