Ed and Sloth confront each other, centered on Alphonse who has now become the Philosopher's Stone. While this confrontation continues, Al falls into a puzzled trance as he sees his mother within her. In order to atone for the ultimate crime, Edward now faces Sloth...

Al is entranced by Sloth's striking resemblance to his deceased mother. Meanwhile, Wrath is haunted by visions of the gate and images of his real mother.
Having found Al, Ed is surprised to see him at Sloth's side. A battle quickly errupts between Ed and Sloth, but with the Achilles' heel of the Homunculus, Ed defeats Sloth with the help of Lust.
Suddenly, Al has a change of heart and throws Sloth's one weakness out the window. Dashing out to retrieve it, Ed is confronted by Wrath. The battle leads them back to Sloth who expoits Al's inability to do anything and escapes.
Fighting Lust, Wrath finds the locket that holds the key to Lust's weakness. He capitalizes and seals her.
One by one, the Homunculus are beginning to acknowledge their sketchy memories. Sloth, in order to rid herself of these "painful" memories, decides that she must kill Ed and Al to prove to herself that she was not their mother.
Launching her attack, Ed can do nothing but dodge until the appearance of Wrath. Wrath fuses himself with Sloth rendering her immobile because of the box of bones Wrath absorbed earlier.
Not willing to let this opportunity go to waste, Ed recomposes Sloth's body into ethanol, causing her to evaporate.
Just outside, Winry watches with a slight grin on her face...
